Mrs. Humitas

The streets of Ica pulsate with life, anything but quiet or immaculate. Everywhere, the sound of car horns mixes with lively Latino rhythms. The air is hot and dusty, a reminder of the sand dunes that surround this humble city. Yet there is beauty here, a warmth and flavor that permeates everything.

Life in Ica is uncomplicated, with no large shopping centers or sprawling cafés, just quaint stores and street vendors. Among them, I met an elderly lady selling humitas - sweet corn-based treats. Her modest, serene demeanor was so intriguing that I felt compelled to ask for a portrait of her.
